Indo-Taiwan consortium wins Greater Noida Metro in fast lane

It's a good news for all Delhi NCR, specially Noida & Greater Noida people. As Indo-Taiwan consortium wins Greater Noida Metro in fast lane, The financial bid for the 28.8-km Noida-Greater Noida Metro link was finalized on Wednesday by the DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation). Work on the ground for the track is now expected to begin by June 15.


In this tender, as it had been divided into 3 parts, has been awarded to a consortium of Taiwanese and Indian companies working with a Spanish consultant. The joint venture consisting of Continental Engineering Corporation and Ayesa Engineering, will undertake the construction of the track work for about Rs 1,500 crore, about 15% less than the estimated cost of Rs 1,735 crore.

This will be the first Metro link providing connectivity between the two cities Greater Noida and Delhi. The chairperson and CEO (Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Authorities) Rama Raman siad, "The route will prove to be a milestone in the future development of not only the twin cities but the entire state of UP. The Metro will boost urbanization, generate employment and provide a surge to economic activity".

According to DMRC officials, the contract with the consortium involves designing and construction of elevated viaduct and 22 elevated stations. The work is to be completed within 24 months. The technical bids for the track were finalized in March this year. There are 30 companies had put in their bids for the mega project.

DMRC said, all tenders related to civil works for the track have already been awarded. All other tenders related to electrical work, signalling and telecommunication, commissioning of overhead equipment, modification and shifting of EHT transmission lines infringing the Noida-Greater Noida corridor at various locations, will soon be finalized.

By June 15 all tenders will be cleared even as civil work should start in the next fortnight, officials said. With the Metro link on track, work on the route, which is estimated to cost Rs 5,526 crore, is expected to be completed by December 2017.

NMRC has already approved the design of the Metro coaches and stations. The Noida-Greater Noida Metro will also support Platform Screen Door technology. This 'cutting-edge' safety feature consists of transparent doors that separate rail tracks from platforms. Train doors and platform doors are aligned and open simultaneously after the train has stopped preventing accidents. The Metro will also be equipped with an Automated Fare Collection system, officials said.

The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld Allahabad High Court verdict in the Greater Noida and Noida Extension land acquisition case.

A bench headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu dismissed a batch of appeals filed by farmers as well as Noida and Greater Noida authorities against the high court's October 21, 2011, verdict.

This latest order by the SC brings major relief to lakhs of home buyers who have bought apartments in Noida Extension and other surrounding areas in Noida and Greater Noida but were uncertain about their future. There are close to 100 projects in the area, many of which are at an advanced stage of construction.

The 22,000 hectares of land was acquired by these two authorities in 2006.

A good news for all Delhi NCR, specially Noida & Greater Noida people, As Uttar Pradesh Government Wednesday approved revised detailed projects report(DPR) of proposed 28 KM, Noida & Greater Noida Metro link. Now DPR will be send to central Government for further approvals so that work on this project can be started.

Works to start in next 15 - 20 days, Noida Authority to initially fund Rs. 1000 crore instead of Rs. 500 crore that was decided earlier. This project is a solution to faster connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida. Now the metro link will enhance the connectivity and provide the commuters the ease of traveling.

As UP Government & General Public hopes that centre will approve revised DPR with minor changes. Rama Raman (CEO) of Noida and Greater Noida Authorities said that "If centre does approve this project fast then work will be start early of next month. This ambitious project has cleared all the stage of approvals to be fast track."

The DPR has been revised to make the project economically viable after central Government & Delhi Metro Rail Corporation(DMRC) suggestions. DMRC had earlier in 2013 asked the Noida Authority to puts the metro plans to Noida Extension on hold because of low passenger turn out expected on the proposed link. Now DMRC saying that Metro services will be provided to general public of Greater Noida by the end of 2017.

This link will branch out from Noida's Sector 71/51 interchanged and end of Greater Noida's Delta-1. Metro station will be located in sector 52, 51, 50, 78, 81, Dadri Road, Sector 83, 137, 142, 143, 144, 147, 149,153, KP-2, KP-1, Pari Chowk, Alpha-1, Alpha-2, Delta 1 & Depot station.
